We finally got a first listen of Anderson .Paak’s highly anticipated album, ‘Oxnard’ when he dropped the first single on October 4.
The new song, “Tints” features none other than Kendrick Lamar. This is the third collaboration between Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar including previous tracks, “Deep Water” from Dr. Dre’s Compton album, and “Bloody Waters” from the Black Panther soundtrack.
Kendrick in verse 2:
“Bitch, I’m Kendrick Lamar, respect me from afar
I was made in His image, you call me a god.”
Last month, .Paak and Dr. Dre both took to social media to share that .Paak’s new album is finished and on it’s way.
Dr. Dre’s Instagram post read, “Just finished mixing the album. It’s a celebration bitches!”
And in a Rolling Stone interview on September 4th, 2018, .Paak announced the album would be titled, ‘Oxnard’, named after his hometown.
.Paak said how important it was for him to complete his respected “beach series” with Oxnard, in a Billboard interview.
“You know, we went to Venice, we went to Malibu, so it’s only right that we take it to the next place, up the coast, up to the next beach,” .Paak said.
There is no confirmed release date for the full album, but some speculate .Paak will release it before the year’s end.
